Who We Are
Christ Church CNI, Rajpura is a congregation of the Church of North India, worshipping in the heart of Rajpura, Punjab. We are a family of believers drawn from the city and its surrounding villages, united by our faith in Jesus Christ. Our life together centres on Sunday worship, the teaching of the Bible, Holy Communion, and fellowship that extends beyond the church walls into our homes and neighbourhoods. People of every age and background are welcome here — from the youngest children in Sunday School to our elders who have worshipped in this church for decades.
Our Mission
Our mission is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ in Rajpura, to nurture every member in faith and discipleship, and to serve our community with Christ's love. We seek to be a church that worships God in spirit and truth, cares for the needy, supports families, raises children in the knowledge of the Lord, and bears witness to the hope we have in Christ.
Our Vision
We envision a growing, praying and welcoming congregation where every person encounters the transforming love of God. We long to see our youth rooted in Scripture, our families strengthened, our fellowship deepened, and our church shining as a light to the city of Rajpura — a place where anyone seeking God can find a home.
Our Christian Faith
We believe in one God — Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who died for our sins and rose again, and we look for His coming again. We receive the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God and the foundation of our faith and life. We celebrate the two sacraments instituted by Christ — Holy Baptism and Holy Communion. As part of the Church of North India, we stand in the historic, apostolic and episcopal tradition of the universal Church, while rejoicing in the rich diversity of Indian Christian worship.
Our Community
Our congregation is made up of families from Rajpura and the neighbouring towns and villages of the Patiala district. We are teachers, farmers, shopkeepers, students, homemakers, government servants and labourers — one body with many members. We share one another's joys and sorrows: celebrating baptisms, confirmations and marriages, and standing together in times of illness and bereavement. Our fellowship groups for women, men and youth keep the bonds of our church family strong throughout the week.
Worship & Fellowship
Sunday is the heart of our week. We gather for worship with singing, Scripture, prayer and preaching, and we share in Holy Communion regularly in the tradition of the Church of North India. Beyond Sunday, our life together continues in cottage prayer meetings, Bible study, Sunday School, and the meetings of our Women's Fellowship, Youth Fellowship and Men's Fellowship. Special services mark the great seasons of the Christian year — Advent, Christmas, Lent, Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter.
Our Connection with CNI
The Church of North India (CNI) was formed on 29 November 1970 at Nagpur, bringing together Anglican, Methodist, Baptist, Disciples of Christ, Presbyterian, Congregational and Brethren traditions into one united Church. It was one of the most significant church unions in the history of world Christianity. As a CNI congregation, Christ Church, Rajpura shares in this rich heritage — episcopal in structure, liturgical yet evangelical in worship, and committed to unity, mission and service across North India.
Chandigarh Diocese
Christ Church, Rajpura belongs to the Diocese of Chandigarh, one of the dioceses of the Church of North India, covering congregations across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The diocese is led by the Bishop of Chandigarh, who provides pastoral oversight to the churches, institutions and clergy of the region. Through the diocese, our small congregation in Rajpura is connected to a much larger family of churches serving across North-West India.
